Abstract

Zarazni proljev pasa i macaka jedna je od najucestalijih bolesti s kojom se susrece veterinar u
maloj praksi. Bakterije rodova Campylobacter i Salmonella cesti su uzrocnici gastroenteritisa
u pasa. Klinicki se ocituju nespecificnim znakovima gastroenteritisa, a infekcije mogu biti i
subklinicke, kada životinje izlucuju uzrocnika izmetom.
Salmoneloza i kampilobakterioza dvije su najucestalije svjetske zoonoze sa znacajnom
pojavnošcu i u Republici Hrvatskoj. Najvažniji izvor infekcije za ljude su kontaminirana
hrana i voda no dokazan je prijenos infekcije i sa bolesnih životinja i životinja kliconoša.
Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je utvrditi ucestalost izlucivanja bakterija iz rodova Campylobacter
i Salmonella izmetom u pasa sa proljevom. Od ukupno 76 pretraženih uzoraka izmeta, iz 32
(42,1%) uzorka izdvojene su bakterije roda Campylobacter, cime je utvrdena visoka
ucestalost izlucivanja ovih bakterija u pasa s proljevom. Bakterije roda Salmonella nisu
izdvojene iz pretraživanih uzoraka izmeta.

Abstract (english)

Infectious diarrhoea in dogs and cats is one of the most common maladies facing the small
animal veterinarians. Campylobacter sp. and Salmonella sp. are the most commonly reported
bacterial agents causing gastroenteritis in dogs. Clinical manifestation is nonspecific with
signs of gastroenteritis and infection may be subclinical, when animals excrete pathogens with
feces.
Salmonellosis and campylobacteriosis are also the two most common zoonoses in the world
with significant incidence in the Republic of Croatia. The most important source of infection
for humans is contaminated food and water, but the transmission of the infection from sick
animals and subclinical carriers is also proven
The aim of this study was to determine the frequency of shedding of the genera
Campylobacter and Salmonella in the feces of dogs with diarrhea. From the total of 76
samples of feces Campylobacter sp. wew isolated from 32 (42.1%) samples, which identified
a high incidence of excretion of these bacteria in dogs with diarrhea. Salmonella sp. was not
isolated from the searched faeces samples .
