Abstract

U ovom preglednom diplomskom radu izložene su osobitosti reproduktivnog ponašanja
najčešće držanih egzotičnih kućnih ljubimaca: kunića, kornjača, zmija, guštera, afričkog
tvora, zamorčića i hrčaka.
Držanje i smještaj egzotičnih kućnih ljubimaca zahtijeva dobro poznavanje vrsnih
specifičnosti svake pojedine vrste.
Naime, neprikladan smještaj i držanje, te postupanje sa životinjom može se negativno odraziti
na njihovo ponašanje, a posebice na uspješnost njihove reprodukcije. Buka i stres u tome
kontekstu imaju poseban značaj.
Posebnu pozornost treba posvetiti mikroklimatskim uvjetima, te napučenosti objekta u kojem
životinje držimo kao i režimu smještaja životinja suprotnog spola.
Ukoliko je egzotičnom kućnom ljubimcu osiguran prikladan smještaj i držanje, što sličniji
njihovom prirodnom okruženju, ukoliko se što manje intervenira u njihov prostor uzrokujući
im stres (izostaje i predator), za očekivati je da u većini slučajeva neće biti negativnih
posljedica po njihovo reproduktivno ponašanje, odnosno mogućnost razmnožavanja.

Abstract (english)

In this comprehensive graduate thesis, the features of reproductive behavior of the most
commonly kept exotic pets: rabbits, turtles, snakes, lizards, ferrets, guinea pigs and hamsters
are highlighted.
Holding and accommodating exotic pets requires a good knowledge of specificity of each
species.
Inappropriate housing and keeping, as well as handling with animal, can have a negative
impact on their behaviour, especially on the success of their reproduction. Noise and stress in
that context are of special significance.
Particular attention should be paid to the microclimatic conditions, animal density in facilities,
as well as to the accommodation regime of the animals of opposite sex.
If the exotic pets are provided with convenient accommodation and housingg, which is similar
to their natural environment, if owner intervence as little as possible in their space causing
them stress (also the absence of predator), it is expected that in most cases there will be no
negative consequences for their reproductive behaviour, or on possibility of their
reproduction.
