Abstract

Portosistemski šant (PSŠ) je krvožilna anomalija koja omogućuje direktnu drenažu krvi iz portalnog dijela krvotoka u opću sistemsku cirkulaciju bez prethodnog prolaska kroz jetru
Zahvaljujući sve boljoj dijagnostici, češće prepoznajemo kliničke simptome PSŠ, čime omogućavamo pravodobnu terapiju. Odgovarajući način liječenja pruža veće mogućnosti izlječenja, odnosno kvalitetniji život oboljelih životinja. Ovim radom obuhvaćeno je 16 pasa liječenih na Klinici za kirurgiju, ortopediju i oftalmologiju Veterinarskog fakulteta Sveučilišta u Zagrebu. Podatci oboljelih životinja, skupljeni od 2011. – 2015. godine, analizirani su i statistički obrađeni, a rezultati su uspoređeni s prije objavljenim podatcima u stručnoj literaturi.
Na temelju rezultata ovog istraživanja, zaključili smo da kod ove bolesti primarno dolazi do smanjenja funkcije jetre, što se posljedično može očitovati na čitav organizam. Osim toga usporedbom hematoloških parametara (hematokrit, hemoglobin i broj eritrocita) nakon operacije statistički su značajno niži u odnosu na vrijednosti prije operacije, što nas upućuje na zaključak da je ili za vrijeme zahvata došlo do krvarenja ili je zbog davanja infuzije došlo do dilucije krvi.
Ovi rezultati će koristiti u budućim istraživanjima PSŠ-a, a doprinijeti će i u njenoj dijagnostici i samom liječenju.

Abstract (english)

Portosystemic shunt (PSS) is a vascular anomaly that allows normal portal blood draining directly into the systemic circulation, without first passing through the liver.
Thanks to better diagnosis, more often recognize clinical symptoms of PSS, that enable proper treatment. Adequate treatment provides greater opportunities for healing, and quality of life of diseased animals. This study included 16 dogs treated at the Clinic for Surgery, Orthopedics and Ophthalmology at the University of Zagreb. Data diseased animals, collected from 2011 - 2015 were statistically analyzed, and the results were compared with previously published data in the literature. Based on the results of this research, we have concluded that this disease cause primarily severe liver damage, which can subsequently manifest to the whole organism. We compared hematological parameters (hematocrit, hemoglobin and red blood cell count) after surgery and they were significantly lower than ones before the surgery. That leads us to conclude that either there was some bleeding during the procedure or the blood was diluted due to administration of i/v fluids.
These results will be used in future studies runway, and will contribute in its diagnosis and the treatment.
