Abstract

Pod bolesti uretre i mokraćnog mjehura u mačke spada veliki broj bolesti koje se sve očituju
sa sličnim simptomima. Neki od tih simptoma su hematurija, dizurija, strangurija,
polakisurija, periurija sa ili bez uretralne opstrukcije. To najčešće nisu bolesti same za sebe
već termin koji opisuje niz problema koji pogađaju donji dio mokraćnog sustava u mačke.
Kao najčešći oblici bolesti javljaju se mačji idiopatski cistitis (kojem se ni danas ne zna točan
uzrok ali postoje brojne teorije i hipoteze) i urolitijaza (kao najčešći kamenci u mačaka nalaze
se struviti i kalcijevi oksalati). Još se javljaju i bolesti koje nastaju zbog anatomskih defekata,
uretralnih čepova, infekcija urinarnog sustava, neoplazija. Također postoji i upalna bolest
mokraćnog mjehura u ljudi koja se naziva intersticijski cistitis čiji uzrok nije poznat i sličan je
idiopatskoj bolesti uretre i mokraćnog mjehura u mačke pa se to stanje danas naziva mačji
intersticijski cistitis (FIC). FIC nije samo poremećaj mokraćnog mjehura već uključuje i
kompleksnu interakciju živčanog, endokrinog i kardiovaskularnog sustava.
U dijagnosticiranju bolesti i otkrivanju uzroka bolesti mokraćnog mjehura i uretre kod mačke
vrlo je bitna rendgenografska i ultrazvučna pretraga. Pri tome se možemo služiti nativnom
radiografijom i kontrastnom cistografijom.

Abstract (english)

Diseases of urethra and urinary bladder in cats contain many diseases which all manifest in
similar simptoms. Some of those simptoms are hematuria, dysuria, strangury, pollakisuria,
periuria with or without urethral obstruction. In most cases those are not single diseases,
but rather a term which describes a whole set of problems that affect lower urinary tract in
cats. Most common forms of the disease are feline idiopathic cystitis (cause of FIC is not
known at present but there are many theories and hypotheses) and urolithiasis (most
common stones in cats are struvite stones and calcium oxalate stones). Other forms of the
disease are caused by anatomical defects, urethral plugs, urinary tract infections, neoplasias.
There is also a urinary bladder inflammation in humans called interstitial cystitis which has
unknown cause and is similar to feline idiopathic lower urinary tract disease so today we call
that condition feline interstitial cystitis (FIC). FIC is not only a urinary bladder disorder but it
includes a complex interaction of nervous, endocrine and cardiovascular systems.
X-ray and ultrasound imaging are very important for diagnosis and determination of the
cause of lower urinary tract disease in cats. We can use both native radiography and contrast
cystography.
