Abstract

Izum fotografske tehnologije jedno je od najvažnijih tehničkih dostignuća 20.stoljeća čija je primjena prepoznata u različitim krugovima modernog društva, uključujući i njihovu upotrebu za istraživanje divljih vrsta životinja. Znanstvenici su uvijek težili metodama koje ne utječu na ponašanje životinja, a time i na konačne rezultate, stoga je u posljednjih 30 godina uporaba fotografske opreme postala najvažnija neinvazivna metoda za praćenje divljih životinja. Pravilno postavljanje, odabir lokacija i odgovarajućih postavki fotozamki uvelike utječe na količinu i kvalitetu prikupljenih podataka te posljedično na završne analize. Cilj ovog rada bio je uspostaviti sustav praćenja velikih vrsta sisavaca na području Velebita i optimizirati metodologiju. Tijekom 2018. i 2019. godine na području Velebita postavljene su fotozamke na ukupno 73 lokacija, koje su bile aktivne kroz 8068 dana. Analiziranjem podataka ustanovljena je mjesečna i dnevna aktivnost velikih sisavaca, te učestalost pojavljivanja velikih sisavaca na pojedinim mikrolokacijama. Ovo istraživanje daje nam uvid u stanje populacija velikih sisavaca na području Velebita.

Abstract (english)

Invention of photography is one of the most noteworthy technical achievements of the 20th century whose use is recognized in different areas of modern day society, along with the usage for wildlife observation. Researchers have always strived for using methodology which won’t affect animal behaviour and thus the final results, hence in the last 30 years the use of photographic equipment has become the most important non-invasive method for monitoring wildlife. Proper mounting, selection of locations and choosing the appropriate settings of camera traps greatly affect the quantity and quality of collected data and consequently the final results. The aim of this study was to establish a system for monitoring large mammal species on Velebit mountain and to optimize the methodology. The research was conducted during 2018. and 2019 on Velebit. A total of 73 photo traps were set up and were active for 8068 days. By analyzing the data, the monthly and daily activity of large mammals were established.
