Abstract

Uzročnik klamidioze, bakterija C. psittaci, inficira različite vrste ptica i ljude. Zaražene ptice
povremeno izlučuju uzročnika kroz respiratorni i probavni sustav, te su iscjedak iz oka i nosnica
odnosno izmet, glavni izvor zaraze za druge ptice ili ljude. Ljudi se najčešće zaraze bliskim
kontaktom sa pozitivnim papigama, ali sve češće i preko zaražene peradi (purani, pilići, patke). U
ovom prikazu slučaja klamidioze/psitakoze u papiga i djeteta, uzorci organa i skupni uzorak izmeta
prikupljeni su od uginule papige nimfe odnosno dvije papige tigrice, te od djeteta (uzorak seruma
i bris nosa) koje je živjelo u istom kućanstvu kao i pozitivne ptice. Iz svih pretraženih uzoraka,
osim uzorka seruma djeteta, izdvojena je C. psittaci PCR-om u stvarnom vremenu.
Sekvenciranjem ompA gena dokazana je velika sličnost izolata C. psittaci iz papiga i djeteta, te su
svi uzorci identificirani kao genotip A, čime se potvrđuje da su papige bile izvor bolesti za dijete.
Kako bi se spriječilo širenje klamidioze/psitakoze, neophodno je nabavljati ptice iz provjerenih
izvora, pratiti znakove bolesti u papiga i ljudi, te se strogo pridržavati biosigurnosnih mjera kako
bi se spriječilo daljnje širenje bolesti.

Abstract (english)

The causative agent of chlamidiosis/psittacosis, the bacterium C. psittaci, infects various species
of birds and humans. Infected birds occasionally excrete the pathogen through the respiratory and
digestive systems, so nasal and ocular discharge as well as feces are the main source of infection
for other birds or humans. Human are most often infected through close contact with positive
parrots, but more and more often through infected poultry (turkeys, chickens, ducks). In this case
report of avian chlamidiosis/psittacosis in parrots and child, organ and pooled fecal samples were
collected from a dead cockatiel and two budgerigar, and from a child (serum and nasal swab) living
in the same household as positive birds. Of all the samples examined, except the child serum, C.
psittaci was isolated by real-time PCR. Sequencing of the ompA gene demonstrated great
similarity of C. psittaci isolates from parrots and children, and all samples were identified as
genotype A, confirming that parrots were a source of disease for the child. In order to prevent the
spread of avian chlamidiosis/psittacosis, it is necessary to procure birds from verified sources,
monitor the signs of disease in parrots and humans, and strictly adhere to biosecurity measures to
prevent further spread of the disease.
