Abstract

Istraživanje polazi od hipoteza da multimedijski sadržaji čine prezentirano gradivo
pristupačnijim i zanimljivijim, a u pripremi i izvođenju isplativijim. Zbog toga se učenjem
iz multimedijski pripremljenih sadržaja postižu bolji rezultati što unapređuje proces
edukacije posebice u područjima biomedicinskih znanosti. Postavljeni ciljevi istraživanja
uključivali su: pripremu nastavnog materijala klasičnim i multimedijskim metodama,
usporedbu usvojenog znanja i dojmova ispitanika nakon učenja te utvrđivanje ekonomske
isplativosti pripreme nastavnog gradiva klasičnim i multimedijskim metodama. U
istraživanje je uključeno 60 studenata Veterinarskog fakulteta Sveučilišta u Zagrebu. Kao
nastavno gradivo odabrane su dvije tematske cjeline iz predmeta Parazitologija i
invazijske bolesti koje su pripremljene uz pomoć klasičnih i multimedijskih metoda.
Klasična metoda uključivala je nastavnu građu iz udžbenika dok je pri pripremi gradiva
multimedijskom metodom korišteno računalo i odgovarajuća programska podrška. Učinci
dvije navedene metode za poučavanje valorizirani su pismenom provjerom znanja
provedenom neposredno nakon učenja te anketom u kojoj su ispitanici mogli iskazati
svoje dojmove putem odgovora na pitanja i slobodnih komentara. Rezultati su pokazali da
multimedijski sadržaji čine prezentirano gradivo za studente pristupačnijim, zanimljivijim,
a dijelom i zabavnijim. Iako je utvrđeno da su posebice kod pitanja vezanih za vizualnu
nastavnu građu studenti u pravilu postizali bolje rezultate, ukupni uspjeh na provjeri
znanja bio je samo neznatno bolji nakon učenja iz materijala pripremljenih
multimedijskom metodom. Ekonomskom analizom troškova koji nastaju pri pripremi i
izvođenju nastave utvrđeno je da su u prvoj godini troškovi uporabe multimedijskih
metoda znatno veći, međutim promatrano kroz duže (trogodišnje) razdoblje ti troškovi u
odnosu na klasičnu metodu postaju manji i relativno konstantni. Rezultati utvrđeni ovim
istraživanjem mogu poslužiti kao polazna osnova u valorizaciji učinaka multimedijskih
tehnika u različitim područjima, a posebice u onim vezanim za biomedicinske znanosti.
Time se otvara mogućnost preciznijeg planiranja nastavnog procesa koji u ovim
znanostima sve više počiva na uporabi računala te prezentacijama, modelima i prikazima
koji zamjenjuju rad sa živim životinjama.

Abstract (english)

Research presented in this thesis is, above all, based on hypothesis that multimedia
content makes educational material more accessible and interesting, easier to create and
financially more effective. Therefore, acquiring information by learning from multimedia
enriched content stands for better results thus improving the very process of education
especially in the area of biomedical sciences. Goals set by the research implied: preparing
of educational material through classic and multimedia methods, comparing of the
achieved level of knowledge and student perceptions and determination of financial
efficiency of both classic and multimedia methods of preparing educational material.
Research included 60 students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of
Zagreb. Teaching material used for experiment comprised of two units from the subject
Parasitology and Parasitic Diseases both of which were prepared by classic and
multimedia methods. Classic educational material consisted of textbook lessons of two
parasitic diseases, while multimedia educational material consisted of multimedia
presentation prepared and demonstrated on a computer, equipped with adequate software.
The effects of two educational methods were evaluated by means of written exam applied
immediately upon learning sessions and by means of questionnaire in which the
examinees were able to express their perceptions in form of answers to questions and
written commentary. The results of the research showed that the multimedia content
makes teaching material more accessible, more interesting and even more amusing. Even
though the results showed that examinees achieved higher score answering visually
characterized questions, the total score of the exam indicated just a slight advantage of one
method (multimedia) over the another (classic). Economic cost analyses of preparing and
presenting the educational material showed that the cost of multimedia method application
was higher in the first year. But however, throughout longer (three year) period of time
those expenses, compared to classic method, would reduce and reach their constant.
Results established by this research can be applied as a starting point in evaluation of
multimedia techniques efficiency within various fields of science especially those related
to biomedical sciences. This sets a possibility of more detailed planning of educational
process which is, considering these areas of science, increasingly more based on computer
application and presentation as well as patterns and illustrations which replace the work
with live animals.
