Abstract

Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je analizirati gensku raznolikost kontrolne regije mitohondrijske DNK kune
bjelice (Martes foina) s otoka Hvara te istražiti hipotezu da populacija kune bjelice s otoka Hvara ima
nižu raznolikost od kopnene populacije iz središnje Hrvatske. Analizirala sam kontrolnu regiju
mitohondrijske DNK 21 uzorka, ukupne dužine 591 parova baza. Utvrdila sam prisutnost pet
haplotipova, cija haplotipska raznolikost (H) iznosi 0.614 +/- 0.090, srednji broj razlicitih nukleotida
izmedu sljedova () iznosi 3.905 +/- 2.040, dok je nukleotidna raznolikost (Π) 0.007 +/- 0.004. Dva
haplotipa utvrdena na otoku Hvaru identicni su s haplotipovima iz središnje Hrvatske (MFH1 i
MFH2). Haplotip MFH1 ucestaliji je na podrucju središnje Hrvatske (22,7%), dok je haplotip MFH2
ucestaliji na otoku Hvaru (57,1%). Genska raznolikost kune bjelice s otoka Hvara, znacajno je niža od
raznolikosti kopnene populacije iz Središnje Hrvatske. Jedan haplotip pronaden na Hvaru i u središnjoj
Hrvatskoj (MFH1, MFH3) identican je haplotipu kune bjelice iz Njemacke (GenBank broj
AB601564), dok je haplotip pronaden na otoku Hvaru (MFH9) identican haplotipu s Iberijskog
poluotoka (GenBank broj EF200702).

Abstract (english)

The goal of my research was to analyze the genetic diversity of mitochondrial DNA control region of
stone marten (Martes foina) from the island Hvar and to investigate the hypothesis that stone marten
population from island Hvar has a lower diversity than mainland population from central Croatia. I
analyzed the mitochondrial DNA control region of 21 samples in total length of 591 base pairs.I found
five haplotypes, with the haplotype diversity (H) 0.614 +/- 0.090, the mean number of different
nucleotides between sequences () 3.905 +/- 2.040, and nucleotide diversity (Π) 0.007 +/- 0.004. Two
haplotypes found on the island were identical to haplotypes from central Croatia (MFH1 and MFH2).
Haplotype MFH1 was more frequent in central Croatian (22.7%), whereas haplotype MFH2 had
higher frequency on island Hvar (57.1%). I confirm that genetic diversity of stone marten from the
island Hvar is significantly lower than the diversity of terrestrial populations from Central Croatia.
Sequence of haplotypes found on the island Hvar and in central Croatia (MFH1, MFH3) is identical to
the haplotype found in Germany (GenBank AB601564), while haplotype MFH9 found on the island
Hvar is identical to sequence from the Iberian Peninsula (GenBank EF200702).
