Abstract

Uzgoj zdrave i funkcionalne teladi temelj je i cilj stoĉarske proizvodnje. Međutim,
ovaj je proces, obzirom na osjetljivost teladi ĉesto praćen patološkim stanjima. Najĉešći među
njima svakako je proljev uzrokovan infektivnim ili neinfektivnim uzročnicima. Obzirom da
ovakva stanja zahtijevaju veterinarsku intervenciju, dovode do velikih troškova, ali i gubitaka.
Također, zbog primjene antibiotika pridonose antibiotskoj rezistenciji. Iz navedenih razloga
današnje se strategije okreću preventivi. Brojna istraţivanja otvorila su mogućnost primjene
dodataka na prirodnoj bazi, a koji će prvenstveno prevenirati pojavu proljeva, odnosno
smanjiti incidenciju ili pak skratiti trajanje ukoliko se pojavi. Danas najĉešći dodaci jesu
probiotici, razna eteriĉna ulja i njihove kombinacije te tanini. U ovom su radu izložene razne
strategije s razliĉitim kombinacijama navedenih dodataka, a rezultati su bili zadovoljavajući.
Doza se pokazala kao najvažniji ĉimbenik te je o njoj ovisilo kakav će biti uĉinak. Pred
znanstvenicima i nutricionistima i dalje je veliki izazov pronalaska idealnog rješenja ove
problematike. Važno je ipak naglasiti da temelji zdrave teladi leže u menadžmentu visoke
razine što podrazumijeva kvalitetnu prehranu u vidu kolostruma, mlijeĉne zamjene i krute
hrane, a isto tako ništa manje nije važna higijena i dobrobit ţivotinja.

Abstract (english)

Raising healthy and functional calves represents the main goal of livestock production.
But, since calves are quite sensitive in early age, it is quite common for pathological
conditions to occur. Mainly, the problem is in the form of diarrhea caused by infectious or
non – infectious agents. These conditions often require veterinary care which can lead to high
costs and losses. Also, the overuse of antibiotics contributes to growing antibiotic resistance.
Nowadays, for reasons mentioned above, the strategy to combat this problem is mostly
oriented on prevention. A significant amount of research investigated the possibility of using
natural supplements, which would have to prevent diarrhea or shorten its duration. Today, the
most common additives are probiotics, tannins and essential oils and their combinations. In
this paper various strategies for prevention of calf diarrhea were presented, each with quite
satisfying results. Dose was the most important factor on which the performance depended.
Scientists and nutritionists still have a big challenge in finding an ideal or at least most
effective solution. Still it`s important to emphasize that the basis of healthy calves lies in good
management with high standards. This means high quality rations which include colostrum,
milk replacers and dry feed and good farm management and welfare.
