Abstract

Leptospiroza predstavlja jednu od geografski najraširenijih reemergentnih zoonoza koju
uzrokuju patogene bakterije iz roda Leptospira. Bolest se očituje raznolikom kliničkom slikom
koja varira od inaparentnih i blagih do teških kliničkih oblika kao što su hepatorenalni sindrom,
sklonost krvarenju, leptospirozni plućni hemoragijski sindrom i pobačaj. Oftalmološke
promjene, primarno uveitis, najčešće se opisuju u konja u kojih se očituju u obliku rekurentnog
uveitisa, ali i u ljudi u kojih se uveitis može javiti u akutnoj, ali i imunoj fazi bolesti. Različite
oftalmološke promjene povremeno se opisuju i u pasa, no ne postoje sustavna istraživanja koja
bi upućivala na njihovu učestalost niti narav takvih promjena. U ovom retrospektivnom
istraživanju analizirani su arhivski podatci prikupljeni od deset pasa s dijagnosticiranom
leptospirozom. Nakon dijagnostike leptospiroze i općeg kliničkog pregleda psima je napravljen
oftalmološki pregled te su utvrđene određene oftalmološke promjene. Analizom podataka
utvrđeno je kako leptospiroza pasa uzrokuje oftalmološke promjene kao što su anteriorni, ali i
posteriorni uveitis, a najčešće zabilježena promjena bila je retinalno krvarenje. Najučestalija
vjerojatno infektivna serološka skupina u ovom istraživanju bila je serološka skupina
Grippotyphosa, koja je utvrđena i u najvećeg broja pasa u kojih je zabilježeno retinalno
krvarenje.

Abstract (english)

Leptospirosis is one of the most geographically widespread re-emerging zoonoses caused
by pathogenic bacteria of the genus Leptospira. The disease manifests by a diverse clinical
signs ranging from inapparent and mild to severe clinical forms such as hepatorenal syndrome,
bleeding tendency, leptospirosis hemorrhagic pulmonary syndrome and abortion.
Ophthalmology changes, especially uveitis, are most commonly described in horses, where they
occur in the form of recurrent uveitis, but also in humans, where uveitis can occur in the acute
and immune phases of the disease. Various ophthalmologic changes are occasionally described
in dogs, but there are no systematic studies that describe frequency or the nature of these
changes. In this retrospective study, archival data from ten dogs diagnosed with leptospirosis
were analyzed. Following the diagnosis of leptospirosis and a general clinical examination, the
dogs underwent an ophthalmology examination and certain ophthalmologic changes were
noted. Analysis of the data revealed that canine leptospirosis causes ophthalmologic changes
such as anterior and posterior uveitis, and the most common change noted was retinal
hemorrhage. The most common presumptive infective serogroup in this study was
Grippotyphosa, which was also found in the most of dogs diagnosed with retinal hemorrhage.
