Abstract

Kontrastne radiografske pretrage, kao oblik dodatne pretrage slikovne dijagnostike,
imaju velik značaj i doprinos u veterinarskoj praksi s obzirom na mogućnost bolje vizualizacije
pojedinih organa ili tkiva koje nam omogućavaju kontrastna sredstva. Gmazovi i vodozemci
znantnom popularizacijom postaju sve češći kućni ljubimci i pacijenti u veterinarskim
klinikama gdje ponekad zahtijevaju detaljnu dijagnostičku obradu uključujući i kontrastne
radiografske pretrage. Među ostalima, ovaj oblik dijagnostike može uvelike doprinijeti u
liječenju i kirurškoj obradi ovakvih pacijenata, imajući na umu njihove anatomske i fiziološke
karakteristike i posebnosti. Najčešće izvođene kontrastne pretrage su pretrage probavnog trakta
s pozitivnim kontrastnim sredstvima u svrhu dijagnostike opstrukcije, evaluacije veličine
probavnog trakta i brzine pasaže hrane, evaluacije integriteta stijenke, razlikovanja probavnog
trakta od okolnih tkiva te radi same anatomske vizualizacije. Moguće je izvoditi ipretrage
mokraćnospolnog sustava s ciljem bolje vizualizacije, utvrđivanjem postojanja eventualnih
masa ili hernijacija te radi određivanja spola kod zmija i guštera. Usprkos ponekim
ograničenjima, prednosti kontrastne radiografije i radiografije općenito kao jedne od prvih
dijagnostičkih testova u obradi pacijenta gmazova i vodozemaca su velike ali je za provođenje
istih potrebno puno znanja i prethodno stečenog iskustva.

Abstract (english)

Contrast radiography examinations, as a form of additional diagnostic imaging, have a
great significance and contribution in veterinary practice due to a possibility of better
visualisation of individual organs and tissues, which is possible by use of contrast media. With
increasing popularity, reptiles and amphibians are becoming more common pets and patients in
veterinary clinics where they sometimes require detailed diagnostic workup including contrast
radiographic examinations. This form of diagnostics can greatly contribute to the treatment and
surgical treatment of these animals, having in mind their anatomical and physiological
characteristics and peculiarities. The most commonly performed contrast examinations are
examinations of the digestive tract with positive contrast media for the purpose of diagnosing
obstructions, evaluating the size of the digestive tract and the food transit time, evaluating the
integrity of the wall, distinguishing the digestive tract from the surrounding tissues, and for
anatomical visualization itself. Examinations of urinary and reproductive system are also
performed with the goal of better visualization, determining the existence of possible masses or
herniations and determining the gender of snakes and lizards. Despite some limitations, the
advantages of contrast radiography and radiography in general as one of the first diagnostic
examinations in the treatment of a patient are great, and their implementation requires a lot of
knowledge and previous experience.
