Abstract

Termoterapija podrazumijeva lokalnu ili generaliziranu aplikaciju topline ili hladnoće na
površinu tijela kao oblik terapije i rehabilitacije mišićno-koštanog sustava.
Aplikacija hladnoće odnosno krioterapija će zahvaljujući fiziološkim učincima dovesti do
vazokonstrikcije, smanjenja upalnih stanja i edema te mišićnog spazma. Njezino djelovanje bit će
najučinkovitije ukoliko se ona aplicira unutar 72 sata od nastanka traume ili izvođenja operacije.
Aplikacija topline će, s druge strane, dovesti do vazodilatacije, ubrzane cirkulacije i posljedično
analgezije, opuštanja mišićnog spazma i pojačane rastezljivosti mišićnih vlakana. Ona će se
najčešće primjeniti kod kroničnih upala i određenih traumatskih stanja.
Velika prednost ovakvih metoda terapije jest to što se mogu pimjenjivati na različite načine te se
njihova aplikacija gotovo uvijek preporuča nakon trauma ili operacija na mišićno-koštanom
sustavu.

Abstract (english)

Thermotherapy is local or generalized aplication of cold or heat on body surface as a form of
therapy and rehabilitation of musculo-skeletal system.
Aplication of cold or cryotherapy will, due to its physiological effects, lead to vasoconstriction,
reduced inflamatory conditions, edema and muscular spasm. Cryotherapy will be the most
effective if applied within 72 hours post trauma or surgical procedure.
Heat aplication will, on the other hand, lead to vasodilatation and faster circulation and
consequently analgesic effect, relaxation of muscular spasm and increased extensibility of
muscule fibers. Heat will be used as therapy in case of chronic inflamations and in some forms of
trauma.
Great advantage of these methods is the fact that they can be used in various shapes and forms
and their application is almost always recomended after trauma or surgical procedures on
musculo-skeletal system.
