Abstract

Proizvodaci životinja su se tijekom prošlog stoljeca vecim dijelom oslanjali
na antibiotike za kontrolu bolesti i poboljšanje proizvodnih rezultata. Medutim,
široka upotreba antibiotika je prestala biti održiv nacin održavanja zdravlja zbog sve
ucestalije rezistencije mikroorganizama pa su se pojavili alternativni sustavi za
kontrolu bolesti i poboljšanja ucinkovitosti u proizvodnji. Nazivamo ih
nutraceuticima a po definiciji su sastojci hrane koji nemaju direktnu hranjivu
vrijednost a opet su neophodni za izbjegavanje negativnih ucinaka stresa i bolesti.
Predstavljaju cijeli niz tvari razlicitog porijekla i djelovanja te ih možemo podijeliti u
nekoliko skupina poput: antioksidansa, pigmentera, emulgatora, enzima, aroma,
oligosaharida i organskih kiselina. Nutrijenti i nutraceutici su zajedno potrebni da
bi se ostvarilo i zadržalo optimalno zdravstveno stanje i otpornost na bolesti.
Adekvatna opskrba nutrijenatima i nutriaceuticima ce ublažiti ili eliminirati
negativne uvjete intenzivnog držanja životinja, osigurati dobre performanse te
unaprijediti zdravstveno stanje i kvalitetu životinjskih proizvoda.

Abstract (english)

Animal production industry has largely relied on antibiotics to control disease and improve production results in the course of the last century. However, the widespread use of antibiotics has ceased to be a viable way of maintaining health due to frequent bacterial resistance so alternative systems for disease control and improvement of efficiency in production are being developed. They are called
nutraceuticals and by definition are food components which have no direct nutritional value and yet are necessary to avoid the negative effects of stress and disease. They represent the full range of substances of different origin and effects and they can be divided into several groups such as: antioxidants, pigmenters , emulsifiers, enzymes , flavors, oligosaccharides and organic acids. Nutrients and nutraceuticals are jointly required to achieve and maintain optimal health and disease
resistance. Adequate supply of nutrients and nutraceuticals will reduce or eliminate the negative effects of intensive animal production, ensure good performance and improve health and quality of animal products.
