Abstract

Krvna slika kornjača i njena pravilna interpretacija daje uvid u zdravstveno stanje jedinke, pomaže u postavljanju dijagnoze te određivanju i praćenju učinkovitosti terapije čime se doprinosi boljoj zaštiti zdravlja ovih životinja. U ovom diplomskom radu opisan je postupak određivanja krvne slike obrubljene čančare (Testudo marginata). Uzorci krvi uzeti su od 16 jedinki obrubljene čančare iz Zoološkog vrta grada Zagreba, obrađeni na Zavodu za patofiziologiju Veterinarskog fakulteta. Dobiveni rezultati su uspoređeni s literaturnim referentnim vrijednostima za ovu vrstu životinje. Krvna slika obrubljene čančare pokazala je odstupanja od referentnih vrijednosti u parametrima crvene i bijele krvne slike. Uzrok odstupanju možemo utvrditi detaljnijom hematološkom obradom i određivanjem biokemijskih parametara u krvi životinja, te na taj način razlučiti radi li se o odstupanju zbog promjene zdravstvenog stanja životinje ili utjecaju vanjskih i/ili unutarnjih čimbenika na krvnu sliku.

Abstract (english)

Blood count and its accurate interpretation gives an insight in health condition of each individual, helps in diagnostic process, as well as determinating and monitoring therapy efficiency thereby contributing to the better health protection of tortoises. This paper describes assessment of complete blood count of marginated tortoise (Testudo marginata). Blood samples were collected from 16 animals of Testudo marginata species from Zagreb Zoo, and were analysed at the Department of pathophysiology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Final results were interpreted and compared to the reference values described in the literature. Blood count of marginated tortoise showed deviation from the reference values in both red and white blood cell counts. With more detailed hematological tests and assessment of biochemical values in blood we can distinguish wheter the deviation was caused by alteration in health or intrinsic/extrinsic factors.
