Abstract

Uporaba pasa u terapijske svrhe omogućuje da se osobama sa posebnim potrebama uvelike olakšaju svakodnevni životni zadaci, kao i socijalni i društveni kontakti uz pomoć školovanog i odgojenog psa. Pas koji se koristi u terapijske svrhe je posebno obučen pas, koji nakon socijalizacije i školovanja odlazi korisniku. Korisnici terapijskih pasa su najčešće slijepe osobe (psi vodiči), djeca s teškoćama u razvoju (terapijski psi) ili nepokretne osobe (rehabilitacijski psi). Za navedene svrhe najčešće se od pasmina pasa koriste labrador retriver i zlatni retriver. Cilj ovog rada je bio ukratko prikazati porijeklo i povjesni razvoj pasa, sistematizaciju i podjelu pasa prema načinu uzgoja i namjeni, potom opisati socijalizaciju te uzgoj i školovanje pasa korištenih u terapijske svrhe. Nadalje, uz prikaz udruga i centara u Republici Hrvatskoj koji se bave školovanjem pasa pomagača, novih instruktora, kao i krajnjih korisnika, dan je i pregled broja članova Hrvatske udruge za školovanje pasa i mobilitet, njihovih korisnika tijekom petnaestogodišnjeg razdoblja te broja socijaliziranih i školovanih pasa. Iz prikazanog mogli bismo zaključiti da se širenjem svijesti o važnosti uključivanja terapijskih pasa u rehabilitacijske procese povećava i broj njihovih korisnika.

Abstract (english)

The importance of dogs used for therapeutic purposes is that the people with special needs greatly facilitate the daily tasks of living, as well as social and community contacts with the help of trained dog. This specially trained dog, after socialization and training, goes to final user. Users of therapeutic dogs are usually blind people (guide dogs), children with disabilities (therapy dogs) or immobile persons (rehabilitation dogs). Breeds of dogs that are commonly used for these purposes are labrador retriever and golden retriever. The aim of this study was to give a brief overview of dogs’ origin and development, systematization and distribution in the groups according to their usage, then to describe socialization, and training of dogs that are used for therapeutic purposes. Moreover, Croatian associations and centres whose deal with education of helper dogs, new instructors, and final users are described, as well as some numerical parameters (number of members of the Croatian Association for Dogs Training and Mobility, their users over a fifteen-year period and the number of socialized and trained dogs). We can conclude that raising awareness about the importance of therapeutic dogs in the rehabilitation process also increase the number of users.
