Abstract

Klamidioza je jedna od iznimno važnih bolesti peradi i ptica, s izraženim zoonotskim potencijalom, posebice kada je u pitanju vrsta C. psittaci. Ove se bakterije nalaze u velikom broju različitih vrsta ptica u kojih uzrokuju respiratorne, probavne ili sistemske zaraze, no značajan problem predstavljaju asimptomatski oboljele jedinke. Unutarstanični razvoj ove bakterije čini dijagnostiku složenom, uz moguće opasnosti od zaraza za djelatnike u dijagnostičkim laboratorijima, posebice ako se dijagnostika temelji na dokazu antigena ili izdvajanju klamidija na zametcima ili kulturi stanica. Ipak, najčešće obolijevaju radnici na farmama peradi, u klaonicama ili valionicama, tj. svi oni koji su u bliskom kontaktu sa zaraženim pilićima, patkama i puranima. Bolest u ljudi obično je respiratorna, karakterizirana simptomima sličnima gripi, ali može biti prisutna i teška upala pluća, te iako se liječi antibioticima, neophodno je spriječiti mogućnost prijenosa ove opasne zoonoze na način da svi radnici u rizičnim zanimanjima rade u sigurnom radnom okolišu, bez kontakta sa pozitivnim pticama, te uz strogo provođenje preventivnih mjera.

Abstract (english)

Chlamydiosis is one of the extremely important diseas of poultry and birds, with a pronounced zoonotic potential, especially when it comes to the species C. psittaci. These bacteria are found in a large number of different bird species in which they cause respiratory, digestive, or systemic infections, but a significant problem is represented by asymptomatic diseased individuals. The intracellular development of this bacterium makes diagnosis complex, with possible risks of infection for employees in diagnostic laboratories, especially if the diagnosis is based on antigen detection or chlamydia isolation on embryos or cell culture. However, workers on poultry farms, slaughterhouses or hatcheries, ie all those who are in close contact with infected chickens, ducks and turkeys, are most often affected. The disease in humans is usually respiratory, characterized by flu-like symptoms, but severe pneumonia may be present, and although treated with antibiotics, it is necessary to prevent the possibility of transmitting this dangerous zoonosis by having all workers in hazardous occupations work in a safe work environment, without contact with positive birds, and with strict implementation of preventive measures.
